My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints. We celebrate in honor of the Communion of Saints, both officially canonized and all the unknown saints and martyrs who are in Heaven. November 2nd we commemorate All Souls Day where we pray and entrust our faithful departed to our Lord knowing of the hope of the Resurrection that he offered for our sake by His sacrifice on the Cross. With the commemoration of All Souls on Monday, this weekend, we will be lighting a candle for all those we have buried from our Family of Parishes since last All Souls. At every Mass this Weekend, during the Prayers of the Faithful, we will call out all we have buried since last All Souls. As each name is read, a candle will be lit in memory of the individual. Also, at the side of both our Churches, we have Memorial Crosses for our loved ones whom we have buried with their name on it. The Crosses are presented to their family on the first anniversary of their death. We commemorate this tradition in our Family of Parishes knowing that we are all sacred in the eyes of God and we entrust our beloved departed in God’s loving hands.
We will be having our Annual Memorial Mass for all whom we have buried from our Family of Parishes this past year on November 7 at the 8:15am Mass at Mary Our Queen. The candles that were lit at St John Vianney will be brought over to Mary Our Queen for the Memorial Mass. Families are invited to take the candle of their loved one at the end of the Mass. There will be rolls and coffee served after the Memorial Mass. Please join us if you can.
This weekend, the Knights of Columbus at St John Vianney will be having their Annual Fundraiser in support of the Flower of Hope School in Haiti. Our Knights of Columbus at St John Vianney will host a breakfast after Sunday Masses. A history of our support in building the School since 2011 is available on our website. We thank you for your generous support.
In last week’s bulletin, we included our annual financial reports for our Family of Parishes. These reports highlight our financial stewardship, accomplishments over the past year, and opportunities for continued growth. I encourage you to take a few moments to review them as we look ahead to the future of our Family of Parishes and School. They are available on our website.
Next Saturday we will have our annual fall campus cleanup at Mary Our Queen. Please help us if you can on Saturday, November 7 at 9:30am. Many Hands make light work.
Finally, we were able to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather a few weeks ago to plant several trees and beautify both our campuses in our Family of Parishes before winter arrives. These ongoing improvements are another way we care for the wonderful parish and school home God has entrusted to us.
May God continue to bless our parish
families and all that we accomplish
together.
