Help secure the future of our parish and school.

An endowment fund is a permanent fund intended to benefit a specific organization(s) or purpose(s) in perpetuity. Gifts to endowment funds are invested in order to provide perpetual income and never distributed.  Annual distributions are made from investment gains to the benefiting organization(s).

Currently, we have two funds:

Mary Our Queen Educational Trust Fund provides annual income that is designed to support and assist in the Catholic Educational Mission of Mary Our Queen.

Mary Our Queen Parish Endowment Fund provides annual distributions to help fund the general operating expenses of the parish.

What is an Endowment Fund?

An Endowment Fund helps our Catholic stewardship to provide for future generations. Unlike our offertory collection or annual appeal, an endowment is held in an investment fund set aside for the long-term support of our parish. A gift to the endowment is never spent. Instead, the gifts are protected by law, professionally invested and managed in accordance with Catholic values, and grow over time.

Our endowment funds were created to ensure that our parish is able to financially sustain our mission to leave a legacy long into the future. As the market grows over time, the value of the gifts to our fund grow and produce earnings that can be used by our parish and school to meet current needs.

How does it work?

Our parish and school endowment funds ensure our vitality long into the future. Because an endowment fund is intended to last forever, gifts to the endowment fund are never spent. The fund continues to grow so that our parish has support for years to come to continue the work of Christ in our community.

As our parish grows physically and spiritually thanks to the grace of God, our needs may exceed our financial means. Our endowment is a way to stabilize our parish income now and in the future so that we can carry out the work of Christ in our parish and school.

Gifts are used to establish and start the principal. Principal is protected, invested, and grows with additional gifts. Portions of the fund’s growth are distributed annually forever.

Mary Our Queen Educational Trust Fund

The primary endowment fund at Mary Our Queen is the Educational Trust Fund. This fund was established in 1984 by Msgr. Francis P. Kenny, the founding Pastor of Mary Our Queen.  This endowment is designed to support and assist both the parish and the school. A portion of the fund is allocated each year to offset various expenses and projects that arise for the parish and school, allowing Mary Our Queen to keep its budget balanced. The fund is designed to gain interest each year, allowing Mary Our Queen to use a portion of the earnings to cover budgeted items, while growing the principal.

Monsignor Francis P. Kenny was the founding pastor of Mary Our Queen, serving our parish and school for 31 years. On June 13, 1963, Father Francis Kenny arrived from St. Paul’s Church in Plainview, NE, and was appointed Pastor of Mary Our Queen by Archbishop Bergan. From the very beginning, Monsignor Kenny prayed and worked hard for the Parish and was able to provide it a place of worship and an incredible school that continues to thrive and deliver on MOQ’s motto, “Where Faith and Knowledge Meet.”

Monsignor Kenny’s passion for education transcends mere brick and mortar; it embodies a profound commitment to nurturing the minds and souls of our youth, instilling in them the values of compassion, integrity, and lifelong learning. He would want every child to have the opportunity to be provided a Catholic education. As we reflect on Monsignor Francis P. Kenny’s enduring legacy, we are reminded of the profound impact that one individual can have on the lives of many. His visionary leadership, compassionate spirit, and unwavering dedication to education serve as an inspiration to us all, challenging us to continue his noble work and uphold the values that he so passionately championed. We extend our deepest gratitude to Monsignor Kenny for his invaluable contributions to our MOQ community and for enriching the lives of generations to come.

Funds from the Educational Trust Fund are allocated annually, with 60% allocated to the school for school operating expenses (i.e. – instructional supplies, administrative costs, teacher salaries, tuition assistance) and 40% of funds allocated to the parish for parish operating expenses (i.e. – Religious Education instructional supplies, Religious Education administrative costs, Religious Education salaries).  $10,000 of the school portion is allocated annually for tuition assistance to attend Mary Our Queen School. Due to changes to the structure of the endowment, it was reestablished in 2004. Since 2004, MOQ has drawn distributions from the Educational Trust endowment totaling $5,232,446.

Mary Our Queen Parish Endowment Fund

The Mary Our Queen Parish Endowment is currently at a build-up stage, with the hopes we can increase it to $1,000,000. The current balance is slightly over $500,000.  The hope is that this Parish Endowment will help look after the facilities of our campus for years to come.
