My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We are having a Christmas in July at St John Vianney.  In the narthex there is a Christmas Wishlist tree with ornaments requesting gift cards that will support our Outreach program for the less fortunate.  On each ornament is a prayer that we invite you to pray for the individual or family that you will be supporting.  We thank you for your generosity.

We have 14 youth from our Parishes attending the Steubenville Youth Conference this weekend. Steubenville Youth Conference is a high-energy youth conference where thousands of teens are invited to encounter Jesus Christ through dynamic speakers, engaging music, the Sacraments, small group discussions, and fellowship with other teens.  Our youth were involved with fundraisers and bake sales to go for this event.

The fiber optic line that connects us to the internet at St John Vianney has been cut possibly by the installation of other fiber optic lines in the neighborhood.  We are working to have it fixed; meanwhile all incoming phone calls are transferred to Mary Our Queen as the temporary internet service we are using is unable to support the phone system.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

We had work done to resurface the driveway of the east side of our campus of Mary Our Queen by the soccer field and by the Valley street entrance last week.  We had considered redoing everything when we were resurfacing the parking lot last year, however since it was in relatively decent condition, we decided not to proceed with it.  Unfortunately, with the deterioration of the driveway which we did not expect over the year, a decision was made to have the driveway asphalt resurfaced.

With the flooring and the ceiling tiles including the lighting of the remodeling of four classrooms on the upper floor in the main school building at Mary Our Queen completed, what is left is the installation of the new projectors and screens.  Work is also scheduled to have a new PA system for our School to improve communication and safety.  This new system will allow both our Parish Office and School to communicate with ease.

The new boilers for the school and Kenny Center have been installed in the mechanical room at the Kenny Center and the old boilers and pipes have been removed in the mechanical room by the cafeteria.  There are a few items that still need to be addressed (existing pumps that are leaking that need new seals as well as the control system for the boilers etc.).  We are also in the midst of upgrading the controls for the HVAC in the Kenny Center to complete the upgrades for the control system for the campus.

I am looking to plant a few trees at St John Vianney Parish to replace some of the trees we had to remove over the years.  The cost of having a tree planted is about $600.  I am hoping to plant four trees this summer.  If you are able to help us defray some of that cost I would appreciate it.

As always, we continue to make improvements and updates to our Parish facilities.  Will keep you updated.

Please note that with our summer schedule, our Parish offices will be closed on Fridays.  Office hours at our Family of Parishes are Monday to Thursday from 8am to 4pm and our school office hours will be Monday to Thursday from 8 to 3pm.  Please note that for the month of July the School office will be closed.

Blessings for the summer,

Fr Marc
