Pastor’s Letter: January 21, 2024

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The words “Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men” was the invitation of Jesus to Simon and his brother Andrew.  Just as how He called his early disciples, we too share that call in making disciples of Jesus.  How do we allow others to encounter Jesus through our lives?

I am taking a few days off and will be away until  Wednesday.  Fr Tom is also away attending the funeral of his brother and will be back on Sunday evening.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.  Fr Richard, who was away last week for a retreat, should be recharged and ready to take on the world.  We also have Fr Mario who is living in
residence at St John Vianney who is available to help with the Sacraments at St John  Vianney.

Our eighth grade Confirmation candidates will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation by our Archbishop on Wednesday, February 7th at St Cecilia’s Cathedral.  Please keep all our Confirmation Candidates in your prayers.

Here are a few activities coming up that continue to support our Family of Parishes:

St. John Vianney

  • Friday, January 26 from 6pm to 10pm – Casino Night and our Annual
Barbeque Competition on the 27th of January from 11am to 7pm.  The
proceeds for these events support our Community Outreach Ministry.

Mary Our Queen

  • Saturday, February 3 – Men’s Club Annual Wild Game Feed.  The proceeds for this event support our Men’s Club and their charitable activities at MOQ.
  • Saturday, February 10 – Mary Our Queen’s Annual Fundraiser – The
MARQUEE.  This event supports Mary Our Queen Parish.  Because of your generosity, we were able to make capital improvements to MOQ’s facilities.  This includes the new HVAC system for the Gymnasium that was just recently installed.  I would like to thank this year’s Chairs – Nicky and Jamie McCarville, Katryna and Steve Floersch and Nicky and Andrew Rainbolt and all our subcommittee chairs and volunteers for making this event possible.    The proceeds for this year’s Raise the Paddle will go towards updating our Classrooms with new flooring, ceiling tiles, video projectors and whiteboards.  We are grateful for your generosity that helps continue building up our Parish Community.

God’s Blessings,

Fr Marc
