Pastor’s Letter: January 14, 2024

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We enter into Ordinary Time in our Liturgical  Year.  Ordinary Time is not ordinary.  It draws from the Latin word ordinalis which means counting in the Days of the Lord.   We are invited to use this  time to grow and mature in our daily expression of our faith.

There will be a Ladies Morning of Spirituality next Saturday, January 20th from 8:15 to 11:30am at Mary Our Queen.  It will be presented by Fr. Michael Voithofer.  The theme for this event is Carrying God’s Presence in Everyday Life.  The morning begins with Mass at 8:15am, followed by a complimentary breakfast, talk and reflection.  Thank you MOQ Ladies Guild for sponsoring this event.

Our eighth grade Confirmation candidates will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation by our Archbishop on Wednesday, February 7th at St Cecilia’s Cathedral.  Please keep all our Confirmation Candidates in your prayers.

Please keep these following events in mind that continue to support our Family of Parishes;

St. John Vianney:

Friday, January 26 – Casino Night and our Annual Barbeque  Competition on the 27th of January.  The proceeds for these events support our Community Outreach Ministry.

Mary Our Queen:

Saturday, February 3 – Men’s Club Annual Wild Game Feed.  The proceeds for this event support our Men’s Club and their charitable activities at MOQ.

Saturday, February 10 – Mary Our Queen’s Annual Fundraiser – The
MARQUEE.  This event supports Mary Our Queen Parish.  Because of your generosity, we were able to make capital improvements to MOQ’s facilities.  This includes the new HVAC system for the Gymnasium that was just recently installed.  I would like to thank this year’s Chairs – Nicky and Jamie McCarville, Katryna and Steve Floersch and Nicky and Andrew  Rainbolt and all our subcommittee chairs and volunteers for making this event possible.  The proceeds for this  year’s Raise the Paddle will go towards updating our Classrooms with new flooring, ceiling tiles, video projectors and whiteboards.  We are grateful for your generosity that helps continue building up our Parish Community.

God’s Blessings,

Fr Marc
