My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Congratulations to our 8th Grade students at St John Vianney and Mary Our Queen who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday, February 11 by Archbishop Michael McGovern at St Cecilia Cathedral.  Thank you to all our Catechists, teachers and sponsors who have been inspirational to our confirmands in their Confirmation journey.

Please keep Saturday, February 21, free for Mary Our Queen’s 29th annual MARQUEE Dinner and Auction at the LaVista Embassy Suites Conference Center. Our theme is Off to the Races. Mary Our Queen Achieving Religious Quality and Unsurpassed Elementary Education (MARQUEE) – is our parish’s largest annual fundraiser. It consists of a dinner, dance and auction (silent and live). It is a chance to celebrate our community with old and new friends. The proceeds of the event have been used to assist in meeting the operating needs of the Parish, to support Parish and educational programs, fund technology needs and help pay for maintenance and building improvements.  We are excited about the vision for the Mary Our Queen family and the opportunities ahead for our faith-filled future!  Proceeds from this year’s MARQUEE Raise the Paddle will go towards Classroom Updates and Teacher and Staff Bonuses.  Thank you in advance for your support of Mary Our Queen’s MARQUEE 2026.

Mary Our Queen Men’s Club hosted their Annual Wild Game Feed on Saturday, February 7.  This is their Annual Fundraiser whose proceeds support many of our Parish and School Programs at Mary Our Queen.  The proceeds of the Game Feed, in addition to the hours of volunteer work that they do for our Parish, support multiple programs in our School and Parish.  This includes providing tuition assistance to our students in the school, scholarships to our High School students, donating $10,000 every year to assist in the updating of our Parish Campus and so much more.  We are grateful for all that the Men’s Club does for the parish.

Thanks to your participation and generosity, St John Vianney raised $31,200 from the Casino Night with a People’s Choice Competition BBQ Wings on January 30th and the Annual KCBS Master Series BBQ Competition on January 31st.  The proceeds from both events go towards St John Vianney’s Outreach program where we assist those in need of assistance during difficult times.  Our Church has always had a preferential option for the poor.  It speaks upon living the Gospel through our lives.  At our Family of Parishes, we do various fundraisers to assist the less fortunate in our community.  St John Vianney’s Winter Rub is one of such events.  In addition, every first Sunday of each month, there is a second collection to support Human Needs at Mary Our Queen and the Outreach program at St John Vianney.  As always, the need is always greater each year.  Thank you for your generosity and I would like to thank especially St John Vianney’s Knights of Columbus for making this event possible.

We enter the season of Lent beginning with Ash Wednesday on February 18.  Please see our bulletin for Mass Times and the flyer in our narthex in regards to our Lenten offerings.  Also, please join us for a Mardi Gras Celebration at St John Vianney Social Hall on Tuesday, Feb 17 at 7pm.  We are fortunate to have Brother Pat Douglas S.J., who is a powerlifting world record holder, share spiritual lessons he’s learned from powerlifting.  The sharing will be followed by a Q & A session, discussion and social time.

As always in Lent, both Mary Our Queen and St John Vianney Knights of Columbus will be hosting their Fish Fries every Friday during Lent.  Please join us if you can.

Blessings for the week,

Fr Marc
