My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Next Sunday, we will be celebrating the Feast Day of Mary Our Queen with Mass at 11am followed by a Parish Luncheon.  The 11am music group will be performing at our Feast Day Luncheon.  Please join us if you are able to.

 

Last Sunday, we celebrated the Feast Day of St John Vianney with Mass at 10:30am followed by a Eucharistic Procession around our Church.  At Mass, we presented Dee Hobza and Jane and Lynn Gaston with the “Spirit of St John Vianney Award” in recognition for all they do for St John Vianney.  Congratulations are in order.

 

Mary Our Queen teachers returned last week in preparation for our upcoming school year.  We welcomed 12 new faculty and staff members and we are looking forward to the new school year that will begin this Wednesday.  We have 653 students from 395 families enrolled.  I believe this is the largest number of students Mary Our Queen has ever enrolled.  This is a tribute to our facility and staff who sacrifice so much in making Mary Our Queen School what we are today.

 

This Sunday we will be having an Ice Cream Social after the 11am Mass for all our Kindergarten students and new students and their families.

 

Our Christmas in July is now Christmas in August at St John Vianney.  In the narthex there is a Christmas Wishlist Tree with ornaments requesting gift cards that will support our Outreach program for the less fortunate.  On each ornament is a prayer that we invite you to pray for the individual or family that you will be supporting.  We thank you for your generosity.

 

Terry Gloe, who maintains our facilities at St John Vianney, will be retiring at the end of August.  I am grateful for all Terry has done to serve our Parish.  While Terry is stepping down, he will be assuming a part-time role in our Parish on Mondays and Thursdays where he will continue to work with the Duet group who comes to St John Vianney on a weekly basis to help clean our Church facilities.  With Terry’s upcoming retirement, I am appointing Tom Gregor, Director of Building and Maintenance at Mary Our Queen, to assume a new role as Director of Facilities for our Family of Parishes.  We are looking for a maintenance technician who will work with Tom Gregor for our Family of Parishes.  Please see our website for more details

 

I am still looking to plant a few trees at St John Vianney Parish to replace some of the trees we had to remove over the years.  The cost of having a tree planted is about $600.  I am hoping to plant four trees or a few more this summer.  If you are able to help us defray some of that cost I would appreciate it.

 

I am also looking to plant about five spruce trees by the eastside of our parking lot by the fence line at Mary Our Queen.  We will have the existing bushes taken down and will have the new trees planted by the existing spruce trees.  The cost of having a tree planted is about $600.  I am also looking to plant two or three spruce trees by the Rectory.  If you are able to help us defray some of that cost, I would appreciate it.
