Pastor’s Letter: October 8, 2023

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Next Sunday after the 7:30am and 10:30am Masses at St John Vianney, the Knights of Columbus of St John Vianney together with the Breakfast Crew will be hosting a fundraiser for the  lower of Hope School in Haiti.  This is a mission St John Vianney has adopted in association with the Knights of Columbus in SJV.  The Knights have made 3 Mission trips to Haiti, assisted in building a School for them in 2013 and continue to support them with teaching the very poor children whose location is in a remote and agricultural area in Haiti.  The proceeds for the free will offering breakfast will go directly to that Mission with the Knights of Columbus donating the food for breakfast.  Please
join us if you can.

We concluded a session of GriefShare on Tuesday.  GriefShare is a 13-week program for those who lost a loved one by providing them support through their grief journey.  Thank you to Kolleen Hoffman and our facilitators who made this program possible.  There will be a two-hour seminar on November 12 from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Surviving the Holidays in the Trinity Rooms at Mary Our Queen.  Please call the Parish Office at Mary Our Queen for more information.

MOQ Athletic Committee will be hosting its Trivia Night on October 14. Please join us if you can.  The MOQ Athletic Committee offers sports activities for grades K to 8 for both Mary Our Queen and St John Vianney’s Parishioners.  For more details visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/maryourqueen.athletics/

We had the Relic of St Jude’s arm on display at St John Vianney last Thursday, September 28.  Thank you to the Knights of Columbus of St John Vianney for all who assisted in making the event a memorable occasion.  St Jude may be best known as the patron Saint of desperate causes.  It provided an opportunity for all to know about St Jude.

We celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on Saturday October 7th with our Annual Candlelight Rosary Procession at Mary Our Queen Church.

We are in the midst of preparing our end of year Financial Reports for Mary Our Queen and St John Vianney.  Our Financial Year for both our Parishes goes from July 1st to June 30th the following year.  In our report, we will also include the budget for our new fiscal year from July 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2024.

Fr Reiser will be leading a pilgrimage to the Holy Land from the 10th to the 20th of October.  Please keep him and all in his pilgrimage group in your prayers.

God’s Blessings,

Fr Marc
