Pastor’s Letter: February 11, 2024

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Leprosy is an infectious disease that requires the person  infected by it to separate oneself from the  community.  There are only two accounts of a person with leprosy being healed in the Old Testament. We hear an account of a leper seeking out Jesus wishing to be  healed in this weekend’s Gospel reading.  The reason why Jesus told him to show himself to a priest is that only a priest can reinstate the cured man into the community.  Just as how the leaper approached Jesus and was not turned away, we know that Jesus too reaches out to us seeking to renew our lives.

We begin the Season of Lent with Ash Wednesday on February 14.  Please note the times for the distribution of Ashes.  As always Lent is not a Season of giving up but rather a Season of Renewal.  What would you like God to do for you?  Please see the bulletin for Spiritual Opportunities offered during the Season of Lent.

Congratulations to our eighth-grade class who received the Sacrament of Confirmation by our Archbishop on Wednesday, February 7th at St Cecilia’s Cathedral.

Mary Our Queen Men’s Club had their Annual Wild Game Feed last Saturday.  The proceeds for this event support the Men’s Club and their charitable activities at Mary Our Queen.  Thank you to all who supported the event.

Saturday February 10 is Mary Our Queen’s Annual Fundraiser – The  MARQUEE.  This event supports Mary Our Queen Parish.  Because of your generosity, we were able to make capital improvements to MOQ’s facilities.  This includes the new HVAC system for the Gymnasium that was just recently installed.  I would like to thank this year’s Chairs – Nicky and Jamie McCarville, Katryna and Steve Floersch and Nicky and Andrew Rainbolt and all our subcommittee chairs and volunteers for making this event possible.    The proceeds for this year’s Raise the Paddle will go towards updating our classrooms with new flooring, ceiling tiles, video projectors and whiteboards.  We are grateful for your generosity that helps continue building up our Parish Community.

Things going on in our Family of Parishes:

St. John Vianney

With the roof replaced at SJV, we had more work done to restore our Church from the damage caused by the leakage.  This work has been covered through our insurance.

Mary Our Queen

With the arrival of the playground equipment last week, we will begin the work on the playground as soon as the frost on the ground clears up.

God’s Blessings,

Fr Marc
