My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We have come to the last weekend of August this weekend. Next Saturday, September 6, Mary Our Queen will be having our Fall Festival beginning with Outdoor Mass at 4pm. Please join us for an evening of fun and fellowship with our Family of Parishes.
Mary Our Queen School started the school year on Au gust 14th. We had 4 classrooms updated in the lower level of the school with new LVT flooring, LED lighting, and new projectors and screens during the summer. The classroom updates are completed on the lower-level. We will begin the updates for the upper-level classrooms next year. We will also update the ceiling tiles and lighting of the lower-level-hallway next year.
This year marks a special year for Mary Our Queen School. It is the 60th anniversary of our school. Mary Our Queen School opened on August 29, 1965, thanks to all the sacrifices Msgr. Kenny and our Founding Families at Mary Our Queen. We are proud of our commitment to Catholic Education and the growth of our school which includes the building of our Early Childhood Education and Youth center in 2020 and the addition of the playground by the Preschool this year.
We are excited to invite all Alumni to the Mary Our Queen Alumni Reunion on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the MOQ School Gym. This special evening is for all alumni—from the Class of 2025 back to the Class of 1965—to reconnect, celebrate, and share Mustang pride as we kick off one of the best weekends of the year leading into our Fall Festival! After the reception, you’re welcome to continue the fun at The Bull & The Bear Lounge, where special MOQ drink features will be available. RSVP by contacting Cindy Tooher at [email protected].
We will be beginning a new season of OCIA (formally known as RCIA ) The OCIA is the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults for those wanting to learn more about our Catholic faith. It is a time of reflection, prayer, instruction, discernment and formation. If you are interested in learning more about our Catholic faith, please see our bulletin for more details.
Last Sunday, Mary Our Queen celebrated our Parish Feast Day with Mass at 11am followed by a Parish luncheon. At the Parish luncheon we recognized Russ and Charlene Morfeld, Dick Liebentritt and Gail Villotta with the St Joseph the Worker Award in recognition of all the work they have done for our Parish.
We started the testing of the hot water heating system at St John Vianney this week as part of the upgrade for the HVAC system for our Church and basement classrooms. We will continue to monitor our newly installed system to make sure we are ready for the upcoming winter season.
Please keep September 28 free for a Tailgate Cookout at St John Vianney. This event will begin after the 10:30am Mass. It will be an afternoon of fun and of course Football (The Chiefs plays their game at 3:25pm). There will be a bouncy house, and a party game of cake walk for families to have fun together. Please join us if you can.
Blessed week ahead,
Fr Marc
