December 6, 2020

We are excitedly embracing this Advent season at MOQ School and feel so very blessed to make the journey to Bethlehem with you and your student(s). Our spiritual preparation for the birth of Jesus will be shared through two all school activities.

Advent Traveling Nativity: This year our students will participate in a school wide Advent Traveling Nativity activity from December 2-18. The pieces of the nativity set will travel from class to class for daily reflection during Advent.

Our hope is that with our classroom (in-person and virtual) community and your support at home, our students will affirm and further develop their understanding of the true meaning of the Advent and Christmas seasons focused on the coming of Jesus Christ.

This is an opportunity to bring the Gospel of the Nativity of our Lord to life for our students. We hope to help them grow in closeness to the individuals in the nativity through their beautiful stories in the Bible and their witnesses to a life of faith and encounter with Jesus. We also hope that students will be able to relate these stories to their own lives as well.

The pieces of one nativity set will be passed between Preschool through Grade 3 classes, and the pieces of a second nativity set will be passed between Grades 4-8. We welcome you to follow along with the Rotation Schedule and share in your children’s experience.

We encourage you to unite with us in praying the MOQ Advent Prayer with your family, as well as asking your children about which nativity piece is visiting their classroom. Take time to reflect on the importance of that individual in the context of the birth of Jesus and for the growth of our faith. On the final day, Friday, December 18, the nativity pieces will be brought together in our school lobby for all to see in its unity highlighting the dynamic story of the coming of Jesus Christ into the world.

All School Advent Wreath: We will build our school Advent wreath with our prayers. Every student will write individual prayers on “gift” cards. The prayer gift cards will come together to create an Advent wreath displayed in the narthex. Through this activity, our students will engage in a prayerful experience reflecting on the Advent themes and how our prayers are powerful gifts. We pray this activity will inspire us to be united in prayer throughout the Advent season.

Come, Lord Jesus! Come and visit your people.

We await your coming. Come, O Lord.

MOQ Mini Mustangs: Preschoolers enjoyed their Thanksgiving Feast last week and are hard at work preparing for their virtual Christmas program. Need a sneak peek? Ask your child to sing their Christmas song! We look forward to sharing the link to the virtual Christmas program soon.
