My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Our 8th Grade Confirmation Class received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Cecelia’s Cathedral last Wednesday, February 26. Congratulations to our Confirmation recipients. We would like to thank Archbishop Lucas for celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation with our Confirmation Class. I would also like to thank all our Catechists and teachers who journeyed with them the last two years.
We had MARQUEE 2025 on Saturday, February 22nd. All proceeds from this event go to MOQ. Since its inception, over $4 million have been raised that helped make capital improvements at MOQ. We are able to maintain our beautiful campus because of your generosity. Thank you, Paul and Betsy Austin, Kevin and Gina Rau and Dan and Mary Ann Tietjen for Chairing this amazing event and for all who assisted in making this event possible.
We begin our Lenten Season beginning with Ash Wednesday the 5th of March. Please see the bulletin for more information about Mass opportunities and Lenten offerings.
Please note that both St John Vianney and Mary Our Queen Knights of Columbus will be hosting their Lenten Fish Fries at our Family of Parishes. Please see the times and details in our bulletin. St John Vianney hosted their pre-Lenten Fish Fry last Friday.
We have reworked the doner recognition kiosk in the narthex at SJV. While we had all the equipment purchased, we were not able to find the right people to help set it up and program it. With that in mind, it was decided that we would do something simpler – with doner recognition slides that are similar to our display signage that we have. It is currently up and running and we will make adjustments as time goes by.
We have also been working on a new website for St John Vianney the past few months. We are currently going through some final details and am hoping to have the website launched this weekend or at latest next week.
More work continues to be done with the HVAC system installation for the Church and basement at SJV. We are still working to address the lighting controls that need to be replaced for the Church, Narthex and Blessed Sacrament Chapel and a plan to update the Church sound system. More details to follow. I believe it is prudent for us to do a study on our campus facility and the needs for our Parish at SJV for the future and I will be gathering a committee to guide us through it.
We are currently going through all our spaces in both our parishes. While going through our spaces, we encountered a lot of dated materials and items in places whom we could not find the group or individual who placed them there. From what was gathered, these items were placed in those spaces for a while and were tossed out. If your group needs space to place your things, kindly contact our Parish Office and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Please also note that items will be tossed out on a regular basis in spaces that have not been allocated for your group.
I am grateful for all the sacrifices that have been made to make our campuses in our Family of Parishes of St John Vianney and Mary Our Queen the beautiful facilities that we have and am looking forward to building on the foundation that laid by our founding members.
God Bless,
Fr Marc
