My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Thank you to all who participated in our spring campus cleanup and mulching at St John Vianney on Saturday, May 31. Many hands make light work. Our campus grounds continue to look beautiful because of all your hard work.
We removed some bushes and wild grass by the carpark entrance of St John Vianney a few weeks ago as some of the bushes were dying, and the weeds around the wild grass were getting out of control. There was also a safety issue as the bushes blocked the view of those pulling out of our parking lot. The plan is to have that area sodded to make it look clean. Hopefully this will be done by the time you are reading this column.
We will host our Vacation Bible School this week from June 2nd to the 6th. This will be our first combined Family of Parishes Vacation Bible School and we have a little over one hundred children registered for the program. Thank you to all our volunteers for making this a special event for our children.
We will also be having our Totus Tuus summer camp from July 7th to the 11th from 9am to 2:30pm for Grades 1-6 and July 6-10 from 6:30pm-8:45pm for Grades 7-12 for our Family of Parishes. Totus Tuus (Totally Yours) is a fun and energetic parish-based summer catechetical program, for both grade school age children and junior and senior high school youth. To register please go to our website https://moqchurch.org/totus-tuus/.
A new Alpha series will begin on June 2nd at El Vallarta Restaurant on Mondays from 7 to 8:30pm. Alpha is a series of group conversations that explore the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly environment. Please email jmeyer@moqchurch.org to register or register from our website at https://moqchurch.org/summer-alpha/.
We are going to move the Pentecost Eucharistic Procession at St John Vianney to the Feast Day Celebration on August 10. Please join us for the Eucharistic Procession around the SJV Church Grounds on August 10 after our 10:30am Mass. Our Feast Day celebrations picnic will begin after the Eucharistic Procession. The reason on moving the procession around our Church grounds is accommodate those who are unable to walk around the neighborhood but would still like to participate in it and having the Eucharistic Procession on our Feast Day makes our Feast Day celebrations a sacred time for our Parish.
The parking lot at Mary Our Queen is in bad shape. The cost to fix, mill and overlay our current asphalt parking lot is roughly about $150, 000. I have been trying to set aside some funds over the next few years to make that happen, however, I am told some parts of the parking lot need to be done sooner than later. I would like to make an appeal for the funds to make it a possibility this summer. If you are able to, we are appealing for donations to make that happen. There will be a second collection the weekends of June 15th and 22nd for the replacing of the parking lot at Mary Our Queen. Thank you for your generosity.
This summer we will be updating four more classrooms in our school building at Mary Our Queen. This includes new LVT flooring, ceiling tiles, and lighting, together with a new projector for each classroom. We started updating our classrooms two years ago and we will complete the renovation of the lower-level classrooms with this summer’s renovations. The classroom renovations are made possible through your generosity to the MARQUEE.
We will also be installing TVs for two classrooms at St John Vianney for our Religious Education Program. This will assist our Religious Education Program for the future.
Blessings,
Fr Marc
