My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We had Catholic Schools week last week beginning with an open House after last Sunday’s 9am Mass at MOQ and a week full of activities to celebrate the gift of our Catholic Schools.  We also had 3newsnow cover a story on how one of our 7th grade classes at MOQ remembered Holocaust Day by spending last Monday reading about the Holocaust.

Our 13th Annual SJV Winter Rub BBQ Contest and Dinner beginning with Casino Night with our Wings BBQ Competition last Friday and Beef Brisket or Pulled Pork Sandwich Meal last Saturday was a success.  All Proceeds from the BBQ Contest and Dinner go to benefit SJV’s Community Outreach program that helps the needy in our community.  I would like to thank all our volunteers who made this event possible, especially the Knights of Columbus at St John Vianney and for the volunteers from MOQ’s Men’s Club and Knights of Columbus who assisted in the Casino Night.

Our MOQ’s Men’s Club Annual Game Feed was on Saturday, February 1.  All proceeds from the Game Feed go towards our Men’s Club activities that support MOQ Parish Programs.  We are grateful for all the work our Men’s Club has done to build up our Parish Community.

Marquee 2025 will be on February 22nd.  The Theme for MARQUEE 2025 is The Greatest Show.  This is MOQ’s biggest fundraiser; all proceeds from this event will go to MOQ.  We are grateful for all who make this event possible.  Since its inception, over 4 million has been raised that helped make capital improvements at MOQ.  We are able to maintain our beautiful campus because of your generosity.

Please see the bulletin for more details and available programs in our Family of Parishes and thank you for your support and generosity.

With the HVAC system for the Church and basement at SJV currently being installed over the next few weeks as more equipment is arriving and is being installed, it is perhaps prudent for us to do a study on our campus facility and the needs for our Parish in the future.  Last year we had to deal with the roof leaks that we have been experiencing for 20 years due to a faulty roofing product when it was first installed with the expansion of our Parish.  We also had to make significant repairs to areas caused by the water damage.  While we were fortunate that our insurance covered most of the water damage repairs, the roof replacement cost was about $100,000.  The HVAC system that we are replacing for the Church and the basement costs about $300,000.  The other equipment in our campus facility is a little more than 20 years old and we need to prepare for other updates and repairs that will be necessary for the future.

There will be 4 classrooms at Mary Our Queen that will be updated this summer.  This will complete the lower-level classroom updates, and we will then proceed with the plan to update the upper-level classrooms for the future.  This is made possible from the proceeds of our MARQUEE and from the generosity of the Knights of Columbus and Men’s Club of Mary Our Queen.

I am grateful for all the sacrifices that have been made to make our campuses in our Family of Parishes of St John Vianney and Mary Our Queen the beautiful facilities that we have and am looking forward to building on the foundation that laid by our founding members.

God Bless,

Fr Marc
