My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Our MOQ’s Men’s Club Annual Game Feed last Saturday. All proceeds from the Game Feed go towards our Men’s Club activities that support MOQ Parish Programs. We are grateful for all the work our Men’s Club has done to build up our Parish Community.
Marquee 2025 will be on February 22nd. The Theme for MARQUEE 2025 is The Greatest Show. This is MOQ’s biggest Fundraiser. All proceeds from this event will go to MOQ. We are grateful for all who make this event possible. Since its inception, over 4 million have been raised that helped make capital improvements at MOQ. We are able to maintain our beautiful campus because of your generosity.
Please see the bulletin for more details and available programs in our Family of Parishes and thank you for your support and generosity for our Family of Parishes.
I received some request at SJV to address the font size of the lyrics of the music displayed on our screens during Mass as they are having difficulty reading it. To address the request, we are going to remove the music notes from the hymns that are used to assist in Mass participation. We are working through some details and will have it done within the next two weeks. I am hoping that this will address the needs of our Parish.
More work has been done with the HVAC system installation for the Church and basement at SJV. While we continue to work at it, the next item on our list that needs our attention is the lighting system for our Church, Narthex and Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The lighting controls were part of the building project and since it has been about 20 years since it was installed, it needs to be replaced given the wear and tear that it has gone through over the years. Unfortunately, it is not an easy fix given that the lighting controls are no longer supported by the company who built it. We initially thought we found someone in St Louis who would rebuild these units but that has fallen through. Plan B was to find a replacement control that will allow us to use the existing wiring system. We have since found a possible replacement, but this is subject to the emergency lighting system which also needs replacement. The new controls for the lighting is $30,000 minus labor and I am hoping everything can keep everything including labor under $45,000. I will fill you in with more information as soon as I get it. I believe it is prudent for us to do a study on our campus facility and the needs for our Parish in the future and I will be gathering a committee to guide us through it.
There will be 4 classrooms at Mary Our Queen that will be updated this summer. This will complete the lower-level classroom updates, and we will then proceed with the plan to update the upper-level classrooms for the future. This is made possible from the proceeds of our MARQUEE and from the generosity of the Knights of Columbus and Men’s Club of Mary Our Queen.
I am grateful for all the sacrifices that have been made to make our campuses in our Family of Parishes of St John Vianney and Mary Our Queen the beautiful facilities that we have and am looking forward to building on the foundation that laid by our founding members.
God Bless,
Fr Marc
