Starting July 13, a six-session series on the history of the Eucharist will be offered to all men from SJV and MOQ. This study has been adapted from Doors to the Sacred, A Historical Introduction to Sacraments in the Catholic Church, by Joseph Martos. Dr. Martos was a professor of religious studies and director of the Russell Institute of Religion and Ministry at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the American Academy of Religion, the Catholic Theological Society of America, and the College Theology Society.
Join us as we explore the history and the church’s gradual theological perception of the eucharist. We will begin with the Lord’s Supper, study first through middle century concepts, Protestant notions, Vatican II clarifications, and conclude with our modern understanding of the eucharist.
We are extending an invitation to the men of St. John Vianney and Mary Our Queen parishes to join us in the Ars Room at St. John Vianney Church.
Saturday morning sessions begin with an optional communion service at 7:30 a.m. Fellowship, prayers, and studies begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 9:30 a.m. The cost of program materials is $20.00. Our schedule is July 13, 20, 27, and August 3, 10, 17 and 24.
