Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)

Children attend regular classes on Wednesday evenings (see calendar) where they are taught the truths of our Faith and are prepared to receive the Sacraments.

We offer a variety of religious formation programs for 2nd – 8th grade, including: The Dynamic Catholic’s Blessed series, Sophia Press’ Spirit of Truth, Alpha Youth Series, and Ascension Press’ Chosen: Your Journey to Confirmation.

Sacrament Years

2nd, 7th and 8th Grades

Second Grade Sacraments

The Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion are essential to the life of the Church. The Sacrament of Reconciliation brings us back into communion with Christ and his Church when we have gone astray and the Sacrament of Holy Communion nourishes us with the very body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Holy Communion strengthens us to continue our journey as faithful disciples of Christ.

Children who have reached the age of reason (2nd grade) and are already baptized are invited to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

In order to receive First Holy Communion, the child must first have completed First Reconciliation preparation and must have received the Sacrament of First Reconciliation.

7th and 8th Grade Sacraments

Confirmation is the final Sacrament of Initiation in the Church. Confirmation stirs up the gifts of the Holy Spirit that was given to each of us at our Baptism.

Confirmation is not a rite of passage or a graduation from the Church. Rather, Confirmation is a sacrament in which we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit to be more faithful and courageous witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Pentecost was the first Confirmation. After Pentecost, the Apostles left the Upper Room with courage and zeal for the Gospel. They were sent to disciples of all nations as are we at our Confirmation.
